Dream Quest In Action

Dream Quest offers an experience with horses that caters to each individual's challenges and needs. Students learn new horsemanship skills at their own pace, with a strong focus on their unique strengths and abilities. At Dream Quest, we believe in helping our students to reach their full potential. For some, this may be as simple as sitting tall on a horse, but others may develop the skills to ride independently and compete in local horse shows.

Before each riding session, students take an active role in grooming, tacking, and leading their horses in order to increase the bond between horse and rider. This also gives students a sense of responsibility for their horses. Groundwork activities and lessons on horse care and barn management also help students to round out their horsemanship skills.

Each spring, we allow our students the chance to participate in an annual Fun Show at the farm. This lets our riders show off the skills they have learned over the course of the year.

In addition to year-round riding lessons, Dream Quest offers an annual summer camp. Camp Dream Quest is always a huge success as students participate in unique activities with and about horses. The week-long day camp provides students with an even more immersive learning experience than their regular weekly lessons.

When students aren't in riding sessions, they rotate to other activity centers. Volunteers teach horse-related lessons in math and writing. The activity center devoted to games lets students have fun with hula hoops, horse shoes, relay races, and other favorite sports and games. Students also have the chance to express themselves creatively in a variety of artistic endeavors.

At the beginning and end of each day, all the campers gather together for a team-building activity. They may learn line dancing, work together on a scavenger hunt, race through obstacle courses, toss water balloons, or enjoy other opportunities for cooperation. Though the group is always very diverse in their ages and ability levels, everyone really comes together as a team.
